Farm Heroes Saga is a major title in King's portfolio of casual match-3 games, alongside Candy Crush Saga and Pet Rescue Saga. Released in December 2013, the game has sustained a large global player base for over a decade. While it shares structural similarities with other match-3 titles—like swapping items on a grid to clear rows and columns—it sets itself apart with its farm theme, replacing candies with cute fruits and vegetables called "Cropsies".

The core gameplay loop centers on harvesting specific quantities of designated Cropsies within a set number of moves. One of its key mechanical differentiators is the value-multiplier system. When matches are made adjacent to targeted Cropsies, those adjacent items gain a numeric value modifier. The game also features boss battles against Rancid the Raccoon. In these levels, players must match specific Cropsies to deal damage to the boss and protect their farm.
