BAND - App for all groups

BAND, developed by NAVER Corporation, is a group management and communication platform designed for structured organizations, including youth sports teams, school clubs, performance groups, and civic societies. Unlike standard group chat apps that rely on unorganized text streams, BAND integrates message channels, group calendars, file archives, and administrative oversight within private community hubs.

BAND’s layout is built around separate, modular group spaces called "Bands". Each space includes dedicated announcement post boards, shared calendars with attendance tracking, task lists, live video streaming, and media storage. The app's media engine stores photos and videos without applying aggressive compression algorithms, ensuring sports and event photos retain full visual clarity. Group leaders can also replicate existing group configurations to create new team spaces quickly and manage member access using bulk administration tools. It syncs across Android, iOS, tablet & desktop web.

Safety management is another key focus of the platform, particularly for youth groups. BAND includes a "Child Protection Mode" that enforces private group visibility, limits direct messaging among minors, requires admin approval for new members, and silences notifications during nighttime hours.

However, managing family sub-accounts introduces operational friction: the platform requires a unique email address for each individual profile, forcing parents managing multiple children within the same group to use combined account names or login workarounds. Data disclosures indicate that BAND encrypts data in transit while collecting location, activity, and account information to manage its services.
