My Talking Hank: Islands

Developed by mobile pet simulation studio Outfit7 Limited, My Talking Hank: Islands is a full structural overhaul of the virtual pet title originally released in 2017. In a unique update strategy, Outfit7 relaunched the original package name with a redesigned island exploration concept. The game shifts focus from single-room pet management and photography to an adventure format where Talking Hank—a goofy, friendly puppy—explores a tropical island paradise.

The application combines traditional virtual pet care with dynamic environment exploration. Players manage Hank's treehouse hub, fulfilling everyday needs like feeding him silly food combinations, brushing his teeth, picking out outfits, and tucking him into his hammock. Outside the treehouse, players guide Hank across the island to ride ziplines, go swimming and diving, discover hidden treasure chests, and visit snack stations to make treats like ice cream. A key focus is the introduction of wild animal companions across the island, including lions, turtles, dolphins, elephants, and snow leopards. Players help Hank build friendships with these animals through feeding, grooming, and playing specialized minigames such as Snake Trails and Fishy Frenzy. The app also includes dynamic day-and-night cycles that change environmental lighting and activities.

Compared to sister titles like My Talking Tom 2 and My Talking Angela 2, My Talking Hank: Islands delivers a more outdoor-focused gameplay loop. While Tom and Angela remain primarily in urban apartments, Hank's update emphasizes outdoor exploration. However, the changes have drawn mixed reactions from long-time players. The removal of the classic camera photo-album collection and direct screen-rubbing petting controls (which now drags Hank across the terrain) has drawn criticism from fans who preferred the original 2017 mechanics. Additionally, ad prompts during island travel remain a common complaint.
