LEGO® Hill Climb Adventures represents a brilliant technical collaboration between Fingersoft, the creators of the multi-billion download Hill Climb Racing franchise, and The LEGO Group. This title is a massive 3D evolution of the classic 2D physical balance racing formula. Rather than simply skinning old assets, the game builds a fully interactive universe entirely out of digital LEGO bricks.
Unlike its endless-driving predecessors, LEGO Hill Climb Adventures transitions to an objective-based, non-linear exploration model. Players embark on targeted expeditions into vast, multi-route environments like the countryside of Climb Canyon, alpine mountains, and the deep "Great Below". Throughout these landscapes, players meet quirky LEGO Minifigures who provide narrative quests, such as delivering fragile cargo, clearing rock blockades, or racing local rivals in the competitive Rivals Mode. The physical collision matrices are highly developed; heavy impacts result in vehicles satisfyingly fracturing into realistic LEGO pieces and studs. Plus, you can play Story Mode offline.
Progression balances Fingersoft's tuning legacy with LEGO’s building theme. Players collect standard coins and specialized color-coded LEGO bricks to upgrade four core performance components: engine power, tire traction, suspension damping, and 4WD balance. Additionally, each vehicle features active and passive gadget slots. Equipping gadgets like glide propellers, hydro-boosters, or grappling hooks changes how players tackle challenges and discover hidden paths. Combining the physics of Hill Climb with the charm of LEGO was a stroke of genius. Having real quests to complete and characters to talk to makes the world feel incredibly alive compared to the endless grinding of the previous games.
The graphics are outstanding, and the world looks like a physical LEGO set. Smashing into obstacles and watching my car break apart into individual blocks and studs is hilarious and highly detailed. It runs beautifully on my device.
Equipping different gadgets, like the glide propeller or hydro boost, completely changes how you tackle a level. Finding hidden paths by using the right combination of vehicle and gadget adds a really nice puzzle-solving element to the driving.
The early game is incredibly fun and fair, but the grind becomes extremely steep once you hit the advanced stages. Needing hundreds of specific bricks and thousands of coins to get minor upgrades feels like it's designed to push microtransactions.
