Pull the Pin

Pull the Pin, published by Popcore Games and Rollic Games, relies on a physics-based spatial mechanics engine. The primary objective is to direct a group of colored spheres into a collection funnel located at the base of a vertical maze. The path is obstructed by a network of thin pins that players must pull out in a precise, logical sequence to clear the way. Gravity acts as the core force guiding the balls' movement.

To add strategy, the game introduces a coloring mechanic. Levels often begin with a mix of vibrant, colored balls and colorless, grey balls. Grey spheres cannot be safely deposited into the collection funnel; they must first collide with colored spheres to spread the color. This forces players to map out trajectories, ensuring that the colored and uncolored balls collide before opening the final gate to the collection pipe.

As levels progress, developers add complexity by introducing hazards such as bombs, which destroy nearby balls on impact, and narrow pathways that test the player's timing. While the core gameplay is highly engaging, the puzzle scaling is uneven. Standard levels are often simple, offering little challenge, whereas the occasional specialty levels provide a much more satisfying test of spatial logic.

The game's progression system is hampered by monetization issues and design bugs. The in-game currency accumulated from completing puzzles becomes functionally useless after unlocking a basic set of standard cosmetics, leaving players with no long-term progression incentive.

Additionally, the ad system is exceptionally aggressive. Interstitial ads disrupt gameplay frequently, and the $7.99 premium ad-removal upgrade does not entirely remove promotional material. Technical bugs also impact the experience, such as broken ad hooks that freeze the game when players try to claim daily boxes or collect reward pins.
